Magnetic properties and colossal magnetoresistance of La(Ca)MnO3 materials doped with Fe.

چکیده
The effect of Fe doping ~,20%! on the Mn site in the ferromagnetic ~x50.37! and the antiferromagnetic ~x50.53! phases of La12xCaxMnO3 has been studied. The same ionic radii of Fe 31 and Mn cause no structure change in either series, yet conduction and ferromagnetism have been consistently suppressed by Fe doping. Colossal magnetoresistance has been shifted to lower temperatures, and in some cases enhanced by Fe doping. Doping with Fe bypasses the usually dominant lattice effects, but depopulates the hopping electrons and thus weakens the double exchange. @S0163-1829~96!09545-8#

Electronic Transport in La-ca Manganites
So called colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites of composition A 1−xB 2+ x MnO3 (A: La, Nd; B: Ca, Sr, Pb) have been subject of intense research during the last years, especially after their re-discovery [1], in part due to their potential use as device applications in the magnetic storage industry, and in part because of the complexity of the mechanisms responsible for unusual, interdepe...
متن کاملColossal magnetoresistance
We review recent experimental work falling under the broad classification of colossal magnetoresistance (CMR), which is magnetoresistance associated with a ferromagnetic-toparamagnetic phase transition. The prototypical CMR compound is derived from the parent compound, perovskite LaMnO3. When hole doped at a concentration of 20–40% holes/Mn ion, for instance by Ca or Sr substitution for La, the...
متن کاملTunneling magnetoresistance in phase-separated manganite nanobridges
The manganite La,Pr,Ca MnO3 is well known for its micrometer-scale phase separation into coexisting ferromagnetic metallic FMM and insulating regions. Fabrication of bridges with widths smaller than the phase-separation length scale has allowed us to probe the magnetic properties of individual phase-separated regions. At the onset of phase separation, a magnetic field induced insulator-to-metal...

After the discovery of the high-Tc superconducting oxides, many strongly correlated 3d electron systems have been reinvestigated. Recently, perovskite-type manganese oxides (R,A)MnO3 have been studied extensively. The above group of materials exhibit colossal magnetoresistance (MR) at the carrier doped region, which is interesting not only from the standpoint of strongly correlated systems but ...
متن کاملEffect of Fe doping on the magnetotransport properties in Nd0.67Sr0.33MnO3 manganese oxides
We have performed magnetic and transport measurements on a series of Nd0.67Sr0.33Mn12xFexO3 polycrystalline compounds with x50.0, 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15. For the Fe-undoped Nd0.67Sr0.33MnO3 ~NSMO! materials, a magnetoresistance ~MR! as high as ;33% was observed at the metal– insulator transition temperature, Tp5273 K, in a magnetic field of 10 kOe. Fe substitution in Mn sites leads to a reduction...
